Bringing Learning To Life

When students are truly engaged in their learning, relationships, and communities, the whole family benefits. With our state-of-the-art facilities and talented, nurturing faculty, Sonoma Country Day School provides a TK-8 education rich in challenging academics, creative and physical arts, and social and emotional learning. For more than 30 years we have lived our promise to know and value children for their unique strengths and challenges. We invite you to discover how Sonoma Country Day is the school that will change your family's dinner table conversation.

Who We Are

Sonoma Country Day School was founded in 1983 and was originally located in the Luther Burbank Center for the Arts, just down the street from our current location. Our founders - three local moms, not educators - chose not to follow a single pedagogical agenda, opting instead for the creative freedom inherent in an independent school. As stated by our founders, the original tenets of SCDS were: challenging core academics, a focus on the creative and performing arts, and a palpable feeling of community for everyone who walked through our doors. More than 30 years later, we are proud these ideals are still central to our mission and guiding principles.

Our Community

Whether you are a child, an adolescent, or an adult, belonging to a community has never been more important than in our busy and hectic modern world. At Sonoma Country Day School, our families and staff place tremendous value on education, but they also understand that it is the ongoing partnership between students, parents, teachers, and administrators that allows us all to experience the enormous benefits of learning, growing, and sharing together.

Our Programs

We believe it is through learning that we truly come alive. Our motto at Sonoma Country Day School is: Our search is for those moments and situations when we are most alive. Children experience a rich program that presents challenge for all learners and inspires joy in intellectual discovery.
