We are seeking an enthusiastic and creative individual who loves children and values the unique contributions of each child in our school community. Applicants should have at least 3-5 years teaching experience, preferably at an independent school and with grade levels K-8; and ideally hold a B.A./B.S. degree with significant coursework in mathematics, writing and reading. An advanced degree in education is highly preferable, as is experience working with gifted students as well as those with learning challenges. The individual should have experience with one or more of the following: a specific learning disability in the area of reading, written expression, and/or mathematics, ADHD, anxiety, sensory processing disorder, social communication disorder, executive functioning impairment etc. Applicants should have a high comfort level and facility with technology as it pertains to learning support. Strong interpersonal skills, a good sense of humor and flexibility are essential.
The individual should possess a strengths-based perspective in working with students to build a repertoire of learning strategies. It is essential that the individual be able to: 1) engage with students, collaborate with teachers and be responsive to input from the Learning Support Coordinator; 2) determine objectives to reach students’ learning support goals; 3) track, measure and communicate student progress.

This is a part-time position with working hours between 8:15 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. The Learning Support Teacher is paid an hourly wage based on the number of learning support sessions that occur each week. The Learning Support Teacher is also paid to attend mandatory meetings and staff trainings at a specified rate of pay.
