Proxy Bidding has been enabled, allowing you to set a maximum amount you are willing to pay for an item and then allow the computer system to bid for you until someone places a higher bid than your maximum amount. The essential idea behind Proxy Bidding is for the bidder to place a maximum bid but still have the possibility of winning the item at the lowest possible bid up to the maximum they are willing to pay. You will receive notifications via email and text if you are outbid.
Bidding Syndicates: You are welcome to form a bidding syndicate. Please appoint one partner to represent the syndicate in bidding. Partners who wish to share in the tax deduction, if any, for an item (please see Tax Deductibility) must contact Shelly Laskey at 707.284.3263 or firstname.lastname@example.org to make adjustments.
Auction Terms and Conditions: All sales are final and there will be no exchange or refunds. Items are sold “as is” with all faults and charms. Items are not to be returned to donors for exchanges or refund. Items are bought as described. Gift certificates have no cash value. Unless otherwise specified, an event, service, excursion, class, or certificate must be used within one year of May 1, 2021. Dates and times are at the mutual availability and convenience of the donor and buyer unless other terms apply. By his or her purchase, the buyer waives any claim for liability against Sonoma Country Day School, Country Day Parents, or their agents, none of which are responsible for any injury or damage that may result from use of the property or services sold.
How to Pay for Auction Purchases: At the close of the online silent auction, your winning bids will automatically be stored in our auction database and you will receive a confirmation email listing your winning bids. You may choose to pay through Auctria, our auction software, or directly to the school via credit card, check, or cash, the week following the auction. Please contact Shelly Laskey at 707.284.3263 or email@example.com with questions.
How to Collect Your Auction Winnings: Auction items will be available for pick up afternoon on Monday, May 3, 2021, in the development office. If you are experiencing any Covid symptoms, please send someone else to collect your items. We are happy to hold on to items until it is convenient for you to pick them up.
Tax Deductibility: By law, the tax-deductible portion on an auction purchase is the amount in excess of its fair market value. Thus, if an item is valued at $50 and you pay $75, you have made a tax-deductible donation of $25. However, if you pay $45 for the same item, no portion of your purchase is tax-deductible. The IRS requires verification of donations of $250 or more. Your auction summary statement will include the value and purchase price for all items so that you may calculate the individual donation, if any, associated with each item you purchase, and your total donation amount.
