Have fun and assist in the completion of the Outdoor Learning Initiative to build grades 3-8 a new Playground! 100% of the proceeds from the tournament will help pay for it!
We have elected a scramble format and we place the priority on social fun rather than competition. In a scramble, each player tees off (men from the mens' tees and ladies from the ladies' tees). Each player must contribute one drive on the front nine and one on the back nine. The group selects a drive, and each player drops a ball at the point of the selected drive and play continues in this same manner until the hole is completed.
Note: If you register a foursome and would prefer to play best ball where each player keeps his/her own individual score (and not play in the scramble), please just let us know.
Non-golfers and experts are all welcome!
Schedule
11:30am: Check in begins, balls for driving range will be provided.
1:00pm: Sharp shotgun start
Tournament will be followed by a putting contest and players can converge at Bogey’s Bar & Grill to post results, toast, and enjoy a bit of social time at the no host bar.

About the Outdoor Learning Initiative
Connecting learning with the outdoors has long been a component of the Country Day School view of academics, arts, athletics, and character education as equal components of a progressive vision for child-centered learning. SCDS, with its focus on social and emotional learning, has carried on this tradition outdoors through a robust physical education program, full participation athletics, outdoor trips, and daily free play time.
Yet, we have unrealized potential to extend our learning environment to our ample grounds. SCDS Faculty and Administration agree that our number one priority for the school is to create outdoor learning facilities that are comparable to our indoor learning facilities. We see great opportunity to add creative and experiential dimensions to our students’ play, academics, and experiences on our campus.
Substantial research underlies SCDS’s belief that more time outdoors improves children’s physical and mental health, as well as their social and emotional skills. Free, unstructured, self-directed play has inherent value to pre-adolescents’ development, particularly in highly functioning neurocognitive systems. In short, children and early teens benefit from being outdoors, with regular opportunities for learning and play, and such activities are essential to a country day approach to learning. The SCDS faculty is eager to implement a curriculum that uses our entire campus as a laboratory for academics and play.
Following careful planning, the primary focus of the OLI is the Grades 3 to 8 Playground, the least developed area of campus. With an investment made possible by generous gifts from our community, a new playground can support the greater physical activity and the social and creative needs of older students with spaces for formal and informal play, team and individual sport, fitness, and more.
