SCDS's Mathcounts Team Headed to the State Competition

Additionally, five of the top eight students who advanced to the Countdown Round were from SCDS. Congratulations to seventh graders Connery Gschwend and Scott Mitchell, and eighth graders Harley Boatsman, Adam Kagel, and Sierra Maciorowski.

Harley finished strong with a first place finish in the Countdown Round and second place on the Sprint and Target rounds. Adam took second place in the Countdown Round, engaging Harley in a great math battle.

The competition’s questions were challenging and fast-paced, and our kids were spectacular. I am so proud of all our competitors including eighth graders Ryan May, Regina Pigsley and Nick Young, and sixth grader Connor Shaw.

I’d also like to recognize our Mathcounts alternates eighth graders Kieran Hyland and Grace Martin who helped with the Countdown Round and were all-around gracious hosts and supporters.

Thank you to Kari Teran and the other parents supplied all the snacks and drinks, and our facilities staff members Jeff Herberg and Sean Marshall rocked.

All in all, it was such an exciting spectacular day. I can't wait until the state competition at Stanford!!!!!
