Primary Associate Teacher

We are seeking an enthusiastic and creative individual who loves children, values the unique contributions of each child in our school community, and is able to form partnerships with colleagues, administrators, and parents to support an effective educational program for our primary grade students. This individual will partner with lead teachers in our primary grades. This is generally an entry level position. Applicants should hold a B.A./B.S. degree with significant coursework in mathematics, writing, and reading; hold a teaching credential; have experience in a primary classroom and the ability to work one-on-one with a small group or the whole class; be self-motivated and creative, but also able to take direction and collaborate with others. One to two years teaching experience, preferably at an independent school, is highly preferable. In addition to teaching academic classes, all faculty share in daily supervision duties at the school.  Strong interpersonal skills, pedagogical expertise, a growth mindset, the ability to integrate into our school culture, a good sense of humor, and flexibility are essential.  

Assessing students and differentiating instruction within a given class level is highly desirable. The applicant should be able to demonstrate a strong background in current best practices in education and effectively apply these to her/his teaching. Strong communication skills with parents and students and the ability to collaborate with other members of the faculty are a must. Creating a warm, engaging classroom environment are vitally important parts of our program. Training in our Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) program is required and provided.

This full-time position does include benefits. Hours are minimally 7:45 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a weekly faculty meeting until 4:30, although team planning meetings may require additional time. Occasional evening and weekend commitments are required throughout the school year, as well.
